10 Easy Quarantine Activities To Do With Your Kids At Home

Brought to you by your friends at bümo.

Self quarantining isn’t an easy choice, especially with energetic kiddo’s itching for a playdate with their friends or wanting to go to the museum. Instead, here are 10 ideas for things to do with your kids at home in lieu of what is happening on a global level.

1. Make edible “finger paint” with your kids.

Just whip together whipped cream (the one in the tub not the can) and some food coloring, and watch your little ones have some creative fun! Set out a plate, and when they’re done with the masterpiece, just wipe it off for a new one.

2. DIY Pom Pom Tube Drop

Just whip together whipped cream (the one in the tub not the can) and some food coloring, and watch your little ones have some creative fun! Set out a plate, and when they’re done with the masterpiece, just wipe it off for a new one.

3. DIY Sticky Spider Web

Use painters tape and stretch it across a doorway to make a web design. Scrunch up some old papers or newspaper and have your kids toss it into the “web.” You can even make a game out of it with points to whoever gets the most paper balls to stick!

4. Tape Jump Competition

Have a jumping competition with tape lines on the floor. Tape down 5-6 lines on the floor and make a game out of who can jump the longest. Try different variations like a long jump, a running start, and backwards jump, one leg hop, or a stretch!

5. Don’t forget about board games!

Pull out your kids favorite board games, or teach them a new game. Board games can get the whole family involved and busy too. Here’s a list of games friendly for ages 2-4 yr old.

6. Figure Skating with Dryer Sheets

Pull out a couple dryer sheets (2 for each kid) and have them pretend they’re skating on ice. Just clear an area on your floors, and let your kids go to town. A plus with dryer sheets are that they don’t scratch the floors, but they can use mittens or paper plates if you’re out of dryer sheets.

7. Schedule reading time!

Your kiddos are probably too young to be reading, but since you both have time, read to them! Have them pick out a favorite picture book, or even make a picture book together (they can draw and you can write the story). This will stimulate their brain, and might even make them sleepy for a nap.

8. Make super easy playdough with your little ones.

This sensory activity will give them something fun to make and something for them to play with afterwards. You only need cornstarch, hair conditioner, and food coloring/glitter.  Here’s how to make it.

9. Try out yoga

Try some yoga for your kids to get their wiggles out. This will calm them down, as well as give them something to do. Play this “Cosmic Kids Yoga” for them, and you can get some time to relax while they’re being active.

10. Choreograph a dance

Choreograph a dance with your kids, and perform it for your spouse. Make a couple dance moves with your little one to their favorite song, and dance their wiggles out. They can even dress up in their favorite outfit to perform what they’ve learned.
